In this DIY project, Mark and Marion share their experience in designing a custom cabinet themselves. And this was put together by themselves! They opted for a black oak furniture panel; This means the cabinet is immediately ready for use. The result is a beautiful wall cabinet.

We had been looking for some time for a beautiful wall unit in which you can store things, but also display nice accessories. which we take with us during our holidays as a souvenir of a special trip. However, we were unable to find the right cabinet (not the right color, size or compartment layout, etc. - perhaps recognizable?). We thought why not design a cupboard yourself? And this is possible at this webshop! In addition to your own design, there is also the option to paint the furniture yourself. Since we have been renovating our house for quite some time now, we didn't feel like having to paint the cupboard ourselves. However, it has recently become possible to choose from a number of 'standard' color types. We were looking for a black version and that is what we have now.

How I made this project

We adapted the design of the shelving unit by Marjolein Bouhuijzen and ultimately made this design to our own taste. You have to assemble the cabinet yourself, but the accompanying description is clear and makes it very easy. Initially, you have to make sure that your panels are placed in the right way with the dowels in the right holes, but this actually all happens very naturally. You can have the cabinet completely assembled within 4 hours.

We later expanded the cabinet with surface-mounted spotlights. We purchased this from ledwereld.nl, where we received good advice. The spots are dimmable and you can see the result in the photos. We bought most of the accessories ourselves during our holiday in Bali.
