IKEA Hack PAX Wardrobe DIY
The IKEA PAX system is a practical and modular wardrobe system. IKEA offers quite a few options and accessories for the wardrobe, but the true creative will of course get started with their own IKEA PAX hack. Check out the best examples from our DIYers in this article.
The wood types used for these hacks were ordered from TOSIZE.fi. Here you can order precisely cut material in many shapes and finishes. That material is then quickly delivered to your home. Easy, right
IKEA PAX Wardrobe under Sloping Roof with Multiplex Doors
A IKEA PAX wardrobe under a sloping roof, how do you solve that? Just ask DIYer Leonoor. She ordered multiplex birch cut to size and made the doors for her wardrobe from it.
Measuring is, of course, very important in this hack. Leonoor even created a technical drawing with software to check if her measurement was accurate. The sloping top line of the three doors must run neatly. And it worked!

PAX Wardrobe with Underlayment Doors
For a warm appearance, choose an original material for your IKEA PAX wardrobe: underlayment. DIYer Eline came up with this hack, and we think it looks really cool! The leather handles on the wardrobe doors complete the look nicely. The hinges of the PAX wardrobe can be easily mounted on the underlayment.
Affordable Alternative for Built-in Wardrobe under Sloping Roof
DIYer Hasse found built-in wardrobes under his sloping roof a bit pricey. We can totally understand that. The affordable alternative: an IKEA PAX wardrobe with doors made from custom-cut multiplex birch from TOSIZE.fi.
Hasse cut some wardrobe parts himself so that they fit well under the roof. Using a homemade template, he drilled holes in the multiplex panels for the hinges. The hinges are now in a different place in the wardrobe than in the original IKEA system.
The result of this IKEA PAX hack looks sleek.
IKEA PAX with Fireplace in Baby Room
Sometimes our DIYers come up with ideas that even surprise our own creatives. Like this IKEA PAX wardrobe with a fireplace - for the baby room! DIYer Anouk ordered custom-cut MDF for the wardrobe doors and the panel with the fireplace in it.
The MDF panels for the wardrobe doors of the PAX wardrobe were treated by Anouk with spray putty and painted black. The middle panel is also an MDF sheet with a square cutout for the fireplace.
Very original! And we wonder, does the baby sleep well? Probably, with such a crackling fireplace nearby.
Coat Rack with Bench in PAX Wardrobe
DIYer Jens ordered miter-cut MDF from us to build a nice coat rack with bench in the IKEA PAX wardrobe. For the lower part, which also serves as a bench, Jens used a PAX element on its side. Clever!
The MDF panels were treated with a primer (tip from Jens: use a smooth roller), and the edges were treated with water-based wood glue. The panels are also nicely finished with a varnish. For mounting the MDF panels, Jens only used adhesive. Nice color!
